Who it is for
Who should consider a specialist evaluation?
Many patients reach us after months of treatment elsewhere. That history is not a reason to stop looking: a wound that resists healing is usually held open by more than one factor at once.
Wound not healing
The ulcer remains open despite treatment.
Amputation has been discussed
You were told a toe, foot or leg amputation may be necessary.
Recurrent infection
Infection clears, then returns in the same place.
Gangrene
Blackened or non-viable tissue is present.
Numbness
Loss of sensation or diabetic neuropathy.
Possible circulation problem
Cold feet, pain on walking or suspected reduced blood flow.
What to send
Three photographs and your recent reports
Send what you have. The coordinator will tell you if anything else is needed.
- Whole footIn daylight, without flash
- Close view of the woundDo not remove dressings that are stuck
- Side viewShowing the depth of the wound
Reports, if available
- HbA1c
- Blood counts and inflammatory markers
- Kidney function
- Vascular study, X-ray or scans
- Previous treatment notes

The evaluation
Six assessments, carried out together
Assessing these separately, in different clinics months apart, is why many ulcers stay open. The evaluation looks at all of them in the same visit.
Wound
Depth, extent, tissue viability and tendon or bone involvement, documented and graded so progress can be measured.
Nerves
Nerve function measured objectively with DPN Check, pain-free and in under two minutes.
Circulation
Blood supply to the foot evaluated before treatment is decided.
Pressure and offloading
Where the foot is loaded when you walk, and how to move that load away from the wound.
Infection
Whether infection is present, how deep it reaches, and whether bone is involved.
Diabetes control
Blood glucose reviewed alongside the wound, since healing depends on it.
DPN Check is a nerve conduction device cleared by the US FDA; the clearance applies to the device, not to the treatment programme. It is one part of the evaluation, not a standalone treatment.
What we do, and what we do not do
Boston Diabetes is an outpatient and day care specialty centre. We provide diabetic foot evaluation, wound care, offloading, infection management and long-term foot protection. We do not have inpatient beds or an in-house laboratory, and complex vascular or surgical intervention is coordinated with partner hospitals in Hyderabad. If your foot needs care we cannot provide directly, you will be told during the video consultation, before you book a flight.
Our goal is limb preservation whenever it is clinically appropriate. Some wounds cannot be closed, and outcomes vary between patients. No outcome can be promised.

Questions
What patients from Oman ask
What should I do if my diabetic foot ulcer is not healing?
Ask for a specialist evaluation that looks at circulation, nerve function, infection, pressure on the wound and diabetes control together. You can start by sending wound photographs and your reports on WhatsApp from Oman.
Can I get a second opinion before amputation?
Yes. A comprehensive evaluation establishes whether circulation, infection or pressure can still be addressed. Sometimes it confirms the original advice, and sometimes it identifies options that have not been tried. Either way, you decide knowing the alternatives were examined.
Can you promise to save my foot?
No, and you should be careful of anyone who does. Some wounds cannot be closed, and in some situations amputation is the treatment that protects health and mobility. Our goal is limb preservation whenever it is clinically appropriate.
What photographs should I send?
Three photographs in daylight without flash: the whole foot, a close view of the wound, and a side view showing depth. Do not remove dressings that are stuck to the wound.
What reports should I send?
Recent HbA1c, blood counts, kidney function and any vascular study, X-ray or scan you have. Send what is available; the coordinator will tell you if anything else is needed.
Do I need to travel to Hyderabad immediately?
No. Your photographs and reports are reviewed first, then you speak with the specialist team by video. Only after that do you decide whether travelling would help.
How does the video consultation work?
You send photographs and reports to the patient coordinator on WhatsApp, who arranges a time. The consultation itself takes place on a scheduled video call with the diabetic foot team. WhatsApp is used only for messages, photographs and coordination.
How much does the consultation cost?
The scheduled video consultation is 15 OMR. The fee is confirmed with your coordinator before the appointment and nothing is added afterwards. Evaluation and treatment in Hyderabad are estimated in writing before you travel.
Do you treat diabetic foot infection and gangrene?
Infection is assessed, including whether it reaches the bone, and managed as part of the programme. Gangrene is evaluated during the assessment; complex surgical or vascular treatment is coordinated with partner hospitals in Hyderabad.
Do you perform surgery or have inpatient beds?
Boston Diabetes is an outpatient and day care centre without inpatient beds. Complex vascular or surgical intervention is coordinated with partner hospitals in Hyderabad, and you are told during the video consultation if your case is likely to need it.
How long would I stay in Hyderabad?
It varies with the severity of the ulcer, infection, vascular status and the recommended treatment, so we do not publish a fixed number of days. Your coordinator confirms an expected range in writing after the team reviews your case.
Can you help with a medical visa?
We issue an invitation letter for your medical visa application and confirm appointment dates in writing. The visa itself is granted by the Indian authorities.
Is Arabic support available?
Yes. Enquiries, coordination and follow-up are handled in Arabic on WhatsApp. Tell us in your first message that you prefer Arabic.
How does follow-up work after I return to Oman?
Your recommendations include the dressing schedule, offloading instructions and what to watch for. Send progress photographs on WhatsApp and a follow-up video consultation is arranged.
